Suppose someone wants to find out the effect of hunger on memory and he is using experimental method. He will divide his subjects into two groups: experimental groups (suppose group A) and control groups (suppose group B) . for selecting subjects into two group s\he uses lucky draw so that each individual has equal chances that s|he will be in group a or group B. Every condition that may affect memory other than hunger (for exam;i.e duration of sleep last night, age etc.) is kept same for each group so that there is no effect of such factors. The subjects of experimental group are kept hungry and those in control group are given food. Then memory tests is carried out in both control and experiments group
